Elle went missing on X-mas eve at Town Square in Strongsville, OH 2023; she eluded all who approached or tried to help. Remi's was called to assist & we immediately tracked Elle and set up a trap/trailcam; however, Elle wasn't having any part of our trap & having other food sources made the trap less inviting.
I got a call from someone in the neighborhood that Elle was sleeping in her backyard; I advised homeowner to let her be as I was enroute. Upon arrival, Elle was indeed curled up on her back porch- approaching was out of the question & I felt she could definately jump the short fence. We came up with plan 2.
We decided to utilize the back patio sliding door by tring to lure her into the home. I hid behind the door & used a long stick to slowly open the slider, we trailed food by gently throwing some outside leading up into the home. The homeowner watched from the kitchen widow and quietly gave me a play-by-play of what was happening since I couldn't see. Elle was engaged, she slowing starting coming our way eating the food and inched closer & closer - I could see her shadow as she cautiously entered the home--BINGO! I slammed that door shut and our Elle was safe! The homeowner did everything right by not engaging, approaching or posting Elle's whereabouts on social media which kept her safe until we got there! Great Job by all involved!
Elle's family was so grateful and sent us this heartwarming picture of her warm, resting after her week-long ordeal. Being able to reunite Elle with her family is just an amazing feeling - in many cases, we are the dog's only hope.
Chica went missing after escaping her grandparents yard while they watched her in Strongsville, OH on the frigid night of 1-3-2024.
Remi's was called and we immediately went to the grandparents home to talk/set up. All involved were on board & understood the process. We felt Chica would stay close to the yard/area & we were right as Chica appeared quickly the next morning eating the scraps of food !
Chica was captured on 1-5-2024 after being out for 2 long nights in the dangerous elements. Chica's Owner was in the hospital worried sick about her little dog; I was able to speak with Mom on the phone to give her the great news that Chica was safe! We kept her safe until mom was released from the hospital & we were able to witness mom/Chica's happy reunion!
Remi's reeived a call about a little dog who had been 'out roaming' for months in the Mayfield , OH area. We decided to take a ride out there as neighbors reported her daily visits to the neighborhood. We placed out trap out back where it would be quiet and observed lots of little dog prints throughout the area.
Coco's story is a sad reality of what is happening in today's world. Coco was safely trapped hours later after setting up. Coco had a microchip and as I anxiously made contact with the owner, I was saddened to hear that Coco had been missing for months & never reported. Yes, she had been out on her own for over 3 long months and the owner did NOT want her back. Coco was quickly taken into our care and we are happy to report was adopted a month later and is living a healthy, happy life with her mom, Sandy!!
Wally, aka Panda, escaped after a recent new placement at his home in Brecksville, Ohio. New Owner's reached out to Remi's and we were happy to assist. We met the new owners and had a long, in-depth conversation about Wally & his escapades.
We were confident that Wally would stay close to home and we were correct; he showed up at 12 am and did some critical thinking about the 'trap' that was placed on the homeowner's front porch.
Wally was safely trapped shortly after midnight & Volunteer Stacy drove out to the homeowner residence to ensure Wally was safely put into the home and along with crucial advice with follow-up as many of these dogs still have 'flight risk' behaviors . Owner was instructed to keep Wally on leash with his martigale collar for at least a week giving him time to adjust to his new environment.
We are always happy to be able to educate and help --Wally's Owners were wonderful to work with and took all of our suggestions & advice in helping Wally to adjust to his new life.
